Welcome to day one of 2017. This is the first of 365 days in 2017. What you do with the next 12 months is largely up to you. The Apostle Paul offers some wisdom for making the most of your time:
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 5:15-20)
As we begin this new year, there are three principles we can apply to make the most of 2017...
1. MAXIMIZE YOUR WINDOWS: Make the most of the season of opportunity you have.
2. CLARIFY YOUR PURPOSE: Understand your bigger picture purpose.
3. INTENSIFY YOUR FILLINGS: Choose to live continually filled with the Spirit
Take a moment today to pause, pray, and commit this year to the Lord:
Today I welcome 2017. God has a purpose and a plan for me to fulfill this year. I choose to make the most of every opportunity and redeem the time. I will face the challenges with strength grounded in faith. I will choose Joy even in the unexpected trials. My default attitude will be thanksgiving and praise. I will seek to be filled and led by the Spirit every day. DAY ONE I ask for the strength and courage to BE A BOLD and joyful witness for Jesus Christ. DAY ONE I ask for the GRACE to surrender once again to the Lordship of Jesus. Amen.
