In this series, we’ve been learning about how God is using each and every one of us for His glory. Many of us spend our weeks wherever the Lord has planted us; school, work or even with our families, without realizing that God has placed us there for a specific purpose, for a specific time and for a specific reason.
When you realize that God has you placed where you are, your perspective will change. Instead of working for a paycheck, you’re now working because He’s called you there. However, sometime’s we’re called into situations that seem frightening, much like Gideon in Judges 7. What we learn from this story is that God is a warrior and he will accompany you into battle, you just have to follow Him.
Often fear is what holds us back from following God into battle. God is in the midst of your battle. Here’s what you must overcome to follow him;
1. Ask God to Tear Down The Idols Of Your Life
Idols often stand in the way of your purpose. These things can be anything that is a hinderance between you and the Lord. From T.V. to unhealthy relationships, there could be many idols in your life that you may not see. Ask the Lord to reveal this to you and seek his presence.
2. Embrace Your Calling
Once you’ve identified where the Lord is calling you, you must join with God in his mission. He asks not just to be spectators but to go forth into what he has planned. Whether your calling is something that’s new and exciting, or something you’re still trying to understand, cling to the promises God has for you.
3. Will You Trust God?
For some of us, when we understand God’s calling, It may take a great deal of trust on our behalf. We must decide if we trust that he will indeed provide and care for us on the mission he has us on. Just like Gideon in Judges 7:1-7, we see that God is helping prepare him for the battle ahead, and Gideon trusts that His plan is good. Do you believe this? Do you believe that God will take care of you and keep his promises?
God has placed you here for a specific purpose and is calling you to do great things for his kingdom. Will you embrace his calling today?
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
